I am selling my 5/8 size Tyrolean string bass, made circa 1900.
It was appraised last week at David Gage Stringed Instrument Repair, valued at $15,000 and described as "in good condition" and "respectably sound".
The bass has an overall height of 68" and a string length of 39 3/4".
I have owned this instrument since about 1980 and it has always been maintained by David Gage. I purchased it from the great bassist Michael Moore. It plays and records very well, and has a surprisingly big and beautiful sound.
I am asking $15,000 and will include a Mooradian soft case made for this instrument.
Please feel free to pass this email along, and to call me at 646 436 0126 with any questions.
